A day in the life of an Acting for Film & Television student at CAT is varied and as a student, you may find yourself in a few different classrooms around campus. Schedules vary from Quarter to Quarter, so this is just an example of what you could expect.
If you drive, you'll park your car in our student-designated parking lot and make your way across the Landmark Plaza to our campus! If you've opted to walk, bike or take the bus, you'll find lots of great scenery on the short walk from the bike lock-up or transit stop to campus.
You have an Acting Techniques class first up and you love this class because you can really see your skills expanding! Today in class you're working on some new memorization techniques and will have a lecture on understanding character objectives and the important role that plays in making your characters believable and memorable.
After your first class, you have a free block, so you grab a spot in the Student Lounge and spend some time running lines with your scene partner. Lunchtime! You take a break and hit up one of the many great eateries in the Landmark Plaza area. Mmmmm….pizza is on the menu today.
After fueling up, you head back to campus for an Improvisation class. Today you're going to be diving into a new technique to improve your acting flexibility and since you've always loved improv, you're really looking forward to today's class!
Time for your last class of the day; Movement, so you head to class to get yourself set up. Today, you're going to be working on some group choreography and in the last Movement class, your group almost had it down, so you're excited to pick up where you left off.
After class, you feel like you've earned some downtime, so you decide to meet up with some friends to take in a show at the Kelowna Actors Studio downtown!
Let's do this again tomorrow, shall we? New day, new classes, new opportunities.
Interested in seeing for yourself? Book a time with one of our Program Advisors! They can give you a tour of campus, including the acting classrooms, and can even arrange for you to sit in on some classes. What better way to experience the CAT student experience than to become one yourself!
